Believe It or Not..!!!!
Yes you are right, thinking that it's nothing new to you.
But the Big Question is which one do you wish to choose. Yes, it’s the “wish” only as both the options are open to you to choose and anyone of these two can be the Right One.
Believing anything is the easiest and fastest way as you don’t have anything as Post-Believe activities. Are all the headlines in today’s newspaper are absolutely correct? Are all the mails or newsletters you have got today are facts?
The Right answer could be either YES or NO……anything
It’s easier to go by “YES” as in that case simply you go through the content, leave it and switch over to your other tasks spend your days sometime the whole life peacefully with those Believes.
But if you would go for “NO” then you might have landed up with huge tasks of Questioning, Researching and Analyzing activities before coming to any conclusion…..We mostly don’t likes to disturb the peace of our life UNNECESSARYLLY.!!!!
I can remember a chain-alert regarding a virus; I received few days back from some of my friend to alert me about some upcoming threat for all the PCs connected to internet on a particular date. Surprisingly it named number of authentic sources like Microsoft, IBM, and AOL to support the content. By the time I received the mail, I figured out that it might have gone through few thousands [the figure might have touched Millions finally] of people before reaching me. I had gone through all the possible sources I could think of [including the sources mentioned here] that moment and found the content completely Vague. I hoped that there would be at least few hundreds of people who had realized the fact and didn’t disconnect themselves from the world of information for that period fearing of the viruses!!!!
When you believe it without doing any cross-questioning, at least to yourself, doesn’t it sound like you like to believe whatever the Creator believes, or better to say what s/he might have liked you to believe??
By Some age-old definition, though Testers are not supposed to assume anything, they are the human being and have the same right like other human beings to be fooled by the surroundings. Are these kinds of definitions built only to draw a thin or thick line between the Testers from Non-Testers [Who are not doing Testing by profession]?
A Non-Tester can be also a Super-tester by heart if s/he keeps questioning everything comes on her/his way using the control on all her/his senses. But s/he always has an open option to “Believe It or Not..!!!!”
I guess the definition tells the Testers that they don’t have the option open and they should only conclude based on the answers of their questions as above other human being they have already taken some additional responsibility of controlling the senses developed by the surroundings.
But we can’t give up. As a Tester you and me have taken the challenge of changing the world, may it be Software, Hardware, Society, Culture, or may it be our Great Peaceful Home.
Therefore, it's better to “Believe It after you are Satisfied” with the Answers.
